Here are a few photos which stuck with me this week (go Reddit!).

The first couple are a little sad, but the bittersweet of the story is eclipsed by the major cute factor of the photo (and isn’t that what journalism is all about?).

Dove At First Sight - the story of an abandoned baby monkey which finds meaning in the world after it meets a well-intentioned dove.

Hedgehogs Mothered By A Brush - an equally touching story about how easy it is to fool babies of all species into believing anything.

The last two images teach two important lessons, without stories having to back them up. Firstly (and I’m looking at you, strangely obsessive pet owners) - don’t preen your animals like bonsai trees. They look ridiculous:

…and secondly, the kiwi is a delicious source of gummi-bear-flavored nutrition and vitality. Appropriate preparation instructions follow:

This Thursday, Virginia Tech put on a concert which the Dave Matthews Band had organized in the wake of the events of April 16th, 2007.

It featured several artists, who had donated their time and talents for the cause - Phil Vassar (who has an awesome first name), Nas (who shares the name of our computer storage systems), John Mayer (who can shred), and Dave.

The school dropped a cool million on infrastucture for the event, which took place in the football stadium, and it was a free event for students, faculty and staff (and a friend).

The show ran for about five hours in all, and the healing effect was palpable. One of the more unique moments was after the end of the concert, when the tour buses made their way through the throngs of students streaming from the stadium, to be greeted with unfettered applause and thank-yous from both sides of the road.
